Question on Negative Battery Cable on ‘19 Chieftain

I’m not that technically inclined, but I figured I could handle a battery change on my 2019 Chieftain Limited. Wrong. When I went to disconnect the negative terminal cable from the old battery, it came off easily but there was another connection on the other end of the negative cable that was not attached to anything (the rubber cable is about 4 inches long with battery terminal connections on both ends).
